5 Must Know Strategies to Master a Zoom Interview

Job Interviews via Zoom have forced us to use lots of skills besides the ones on our resume: we need to be a producer, lighting director and IT person as well as a top candidate for the job! Here are 5 strategies to get your Zoom on.

1)    Get your set up right, before the call. Do a run through by checking your lighting, angles and background. Prop your laptop up on a few books to make sure the height works for you too.

2)    Check your connections. Make sure that your Wifi is strong where you will be taking the interview. Turn off all alerts on your computer and shut down email so there no “pings” or alerts during your call.

3)    Create a “cheat sheet” have some bullet points to remind you of how you want to answer specific questions on your interview and have the job description and even the LinkedIn profile of the interviewer up on your screen.

4)    Close your door and make sure to let everyone in your home know that this is a “Do Not Disturb” time for you. Create a sign and put on your door to insure no one barges in.

5)    Be dressed for business. We have all heard of people taking their Zoom calls in the underwear or sweats on the bottom. Don’t be one of those people. You will feel more professional if you are sporting head to toe interview attire and won’t risk any unfortunate accidents.
